May 9, 2016 – Oakville, ON | For over a week, wildfires have been raging in Fort McMurray, AB and officials say there is no end in sight. First responders, including the Canadian Red Cross staff and volunteers are working around the clock, managing home evacuations in the area.
While many Alberta and Saskatchewan organizations are using ERMS's Emergency Mass Notification System to specifically manage critical communications in the midst of this natural disaster, we feel powerless and want to do more.
The Residents of Fort McMurray need our help and every dollar counts. The Canadian Red Cross is providing basic essentials to the affected people, including beds and cots. Donations can be made by visiting the Red Cross website, calling 1-800-418-1111, or texting the word “REDCROSS” to 30333 to make a $5 donation.
